I grew up surrounded by the beauty of Italy, which had a meaningful impact on my childhood that led to developing my interest in art and illustration. My approach to shapes and colours began when I painted two little clowns with the oil colours my dad gave me. I guess those clowns had at some point reached their circus, leaving me the gift of sharing my dedication for recreating those magical and joyful childhood moments.
I am mostly inspired by nature, travel and art. You can see how these muses are embodied in my illustrations and surface pattern design. My artistic style evolves and takes surprising directions. Exploring new techniques, playing with colours, and experimenting allow my inspiration and imagination to merge and flow like a river. I am keen on inventing whimsical characters, making portraits and illustrated recipes. In print textiles, I incorporate lively patterns, textures, organic abstract or stylized and straightforward shapes. I use different techniques such as watercolour, acrylic, ink brush pen, or mixed media combined with digital. My body of work includes editorial and children book illustrations, as well as surface pattern designs suitable for home decor or fashion projects.
Over the years, I have worked as a graphic designer, illustrated children's books, painted murals and street-level artworks. I had the pleasure and the privilege of working with publishers such as Piemme, De Agostini, Piccoli, Juvenilia, Edizioni E.Elle, Signum Scuola, Giunti Scuola, Gakken and with the City of Calgary Public Art.
I continue my artistic journey in Calgary, Canada, where I live with my husband, two brilliant sons, and our furry white cat.

"Emma completed several art pieces for me when I worked as the coordinator of the City of Calgary painted utility box project. Her work is fun and vibrant and she was a pleasure to work with. Emma completed the work quickly and in a very professional manner and I would not hesitate to recommend her for any project."

"Giunti Scuola is an Italian publishing house leader in primary school sector and it's always been a benchmark for Italian teachers. Emma Bresola designed the digital illustrations for three book covers of the new book series called Gus (Giunti Universale Scuola). She has been a pleasure to work with, bringing her attention to detail to every illustration, and she has done an excellent job. I can confidently recommend Emma as a solid expert in her field."
Tullia Colombo - CEO Giunti Scuola
Rosscarrock built five little libraries as part of the Strong Neighbourhood Initiative to create space for neighbours to meet and convene as they share their love of reading. The little libraries will be full of books where neighbours can take or bring a books. All the little libraries will be placed on high traffic area in the community that is accessible to everyone. Emma Bresola a local artist engaged the adult and children residents in the community and painted the little libraries.
