My heroine from history is Sojourner Truth (1797-1883) She was a former slave, preacher, abolitionist, and women’s right advocate. I want to emphasize her dignity, nobility and spirituality through purple and gold colors.
I wrote and illustrated this picture book "Gina", published by Gakken, Tokyo, Japan.
Gina is a little hen. She always fights, and for this reason, she cannot find any friends. One day, she had an idea, she decided to make masks. Making masks was a way for Gina to find herself and make friends.
The Utility Box Program started in 2010 as a pilot project initiated by The City of Calgary Roads. Initially conceived as a highly successful graffiti abatement measure, widespread popularity enabled the program to grow and become permanent in 2011. (The City of Calgary)
I created and painted 5 projects with playful and colorful dinosaur theme displayed in different communities around Calgary, Canada.
The "Elk" and "Tea Cup & Tea Pot" have been selected by the juror Katherine Ylitalo, to be exhibited as part of the ACAD “Spotlight” exhibition Calgary, Canada 2017 Katherine Ylitalo is an independent curator, arts writer and educator. She has been a curator of contemporary art at both the Glenbow Museum and the Nickle Arts Museum (UofC) in Calgary.
